MTV, Major League Baseball Team Up on TV Series

David Ortiz and Andrew McCutchen will be executive producers

MLBMTV — owned by Viacom (VIA) — and Major League Baseball have partnered up to create a TV show that will connect baseball players to their fans.

The Associated Press reports that the show will have 30 episodes and it will be produced by World Series MVP David Ortiz and Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star Andrew McCutchen. The two will be executive producers of the MTV series that combines pop culture with baseball and it is expected to air next spring.

The series is expected to air on MTV2 and it will be filmed in the MLB Fan Cave, a former Tower Records store. The Fan Cave is used regularly throughout the year by MLB to promote the league by creating a connection between the fans and the players through music, funny videos, games and more.

MTV president Stephen Friedman said that the main purpose of the show is to create a connection between players and fans, especially the younger generation.
