SpaceX Satellite a No-Go Thanks to Faulty Falcon 9

The launch has been rescheduled for Thanksgiving

The Falcon 9 rocket was scheduled to send a 6,918-pound communication satellite into geostationary orbit, a first for SpaceX. However, the a series of problems were detected as the rocket readied for launch, forcing engineers to reset the clock several times before the mission was finally scrubbed, The Register notes.

SpaceX has rescheduled the launch for Thanksgiving Day. The company’s rockets have successfully sent various payloads into low-earth orbits and delivered supplies to the International Space Station.

Once in space, the satellite will join 54 other SES vehicles in geostationary orbit around the year, bolstering the company’s communication network.

Company founder Elon Musk serves as the CEO of SpaceX and electric car-maker Tesla Motors (TSLA); he is also the chairman of SolarCity (SCTY).
