A Domino’s Pizza (DPZ[1]) shop located in India was attacked on Friday[2] over the strip search of an Indian diplomat in New York.

Since then, Indian officials have increased the amount of patrols near America-based franchises. Members of the Republican Party of India have also demanded a ban on goods from the U.S., reports Reuters.

The reason behind the attack on the Domino’s Pizza shop is the arrest of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade. Khobragade was arrested  for visa fraud and underpaying her housekeeper. After her arrest she was the subject of a strip search. India has demanded that the United States drop all charges against the diplomat and her father claims that he will fast if she isn’t released. If Khobragade is found guilty on both charges, she could face a maximum of 15 years in prison, Reuters notes.

According to CNN[3], Khobragade had promised to pay her housekeeper a minimum wage of $9.75 an hour when she came to America. However, the housekeeper was actually only paid $3.31 an hour. Khobragade told her housekeeper to lie about her wages if she was asked.
