Hundreds of Flights Cancelled Due to Texas Ice Storm

American Airlines and American Eagle cancelled nearly 1,000 flights


An ice storm in Texas has forced Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to cancel hundreds of flights on Friday.

American Airlines and American Eagle cancelled close to 1,000 flights due to the ice storm that hit Northern Texas, according to Dallas News. “D/FW departures have been halted until after 1:30 p.m. in order to allow American and DFW Airport authorities to clear runways and ramp areas,” American said earlier today. “American is working diligently to accommodate customers as quickly and safely as possible.”

American is allowing customers to make a change their travel plans free of charge to, from or through D/FW Airport, Oklahoma City , Tulsa, Little Rock, Springfield, Mo., Memphis, Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio and  Evansville, Ind. That fee waiver applies to trips scheduled for Dec. 4-Dec. 7.
