MCD – McDonald’s Will Attempt to Use Sustainable Beef by 2016

It won't be easy for McDonald's to make this happen


McDonald’s (MCD) is looking to begin using sustainable beef by 2016 in order to meet growing demands for “responsibly raised” proteins.

mcdonald'sThe fast food chain released a web page on its website that talks about its new plan to use sustainable beef by 2016. McDonald’s wants to “improve environmental practices in the way beef is produced, support positive workplaces in the beef industry, and drive continuous improvement in animal health and welfare.”

Additionally, the company wants to support the financial situation of those who raise cattle and produce beef. McDonald’s acknowledges that this will be a tough task and the chain is willing to listen to any suggestions or ideas that will help it reach its goal.

MCD stock is down 1.3% in early afternoon trading Wednesday.
