Herpetology Notes examined[3] the behavior of crocodiles and noted that the reptiles are capable of climbing tress. “Climbing behavior is common among crocodilians,” according to the study. The journal also noted that one crocodile escaped its enclosure by climbing a tree that was bent and going over the barrier.

Although it’s easier for the reptiles to climb trees that are bent at an angle, the study shows that they can also climb vertically. Additionally, mugger crocodile and American alligators can balance twigs on their snout to lure its prey in. This is the first report of a reptile using a tool.
