HD: Home Depot Hiring 80,000 for Spring 2014

Hiring positions will be available based on each stores' needs

Home Depot (HD), announced on Wednesday, that it plans to hire 80,000 employees for Spring 2014.

HD-stock-Home-Depot-Hiring-Home-Depot-JobsHome Depot’s hiring expectations match the amount of employees it hired last Spring. The retailer said that the hiring will vary depending on where stores are located, what their needs are and how they are affected by the weather. Home Depot also recently announced that it will be hiring 6,300 employees in Canada, reports MarketWatch.

The housing recovery is likely what’s giving Home Depot its extra boost in business. More homeowners are now willing to take on home improvement projects and invest in large items for their homes, Market Watch notes.

Home Depot also benefits in Spring due to homeowners planning outside projects. Gardens, painting and landscaping are all outdoor activities that Home Depot can help with.

“Spring is our Christmas,” Tim Crow, executive vice president of human resources for Home Depot, told Businessweek. “After a winter like we’re having this year, everyone will be excited to get outdoors.”
