The Lunesta vs. Ambien debate continues to rage as two more pharmaceuticals have launched generic versions of Lunesta.  Meanwhile, the FDA has ordered drug makers to lower the doses for Ambien as the drug could impair driving and other activities the next day.

Ambien is a bigger name in the world of prescription sleep aids, but is it really better? The drug helps you fall asleep within 15 to 30 minutes but it should only be taken if insomnia patients are able to get 7 or 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep.

Doctors recommend that patients only take Ambien or Lunesta if they’re able to get a full night’s sleep. Lunesta also works fairly quickly but it can cause grogginess for patients who are unable to get a full night’s sleep.
