Over 7 million PlayStation 4 units have now been sold[5] in the U.S. compared to 5 million of the Microsoft console. These figures apply only to consoles sold to retailers, not purchased by consumers.

Overall, both consoles have surpassed their last-gen equivalents. PS4 sales are up 94% compared to what they were five months after the launch of the PS3 back in 2007.

Meanwhile, Xbox One sales are up 56% over Xbox 360 at the same time post-launch.

SNE stock is down about 0.35% Friday and MSFT stock is down close to 1%.
