The 2014 Billboard Music Awards saw Justin Timberlake win in the Top Artist category. He also won Top Billboard 200 Album for The 20/20 Experience. Winner of the Top Billboard 100 Album category was Robin Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell for Blurred Lines.

Here are a few things that happened at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards that got people talking, as listed by CNN.

  • A hologram of Michael Jackson appeared at the event for a “live” performance of his new song Slave to the Rhythm.
  • Kendall Jenner screwed up Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer’s introduction when she started to announce them as One Direction.
  • Jennifer Lopez became the first woman to win a the Icon Award.
  • Robin Thicke performed a new song, titled Get Her Back, as a message to his wife that he separated from in February.
