GOOG: Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally Joins Google Board

Mulally is Google's 11th board member


Alan Mulally, the former CEO of Ford Motors (F), joined Google’s (GOOG) board on July 9.

“This is really an inspired move,” Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, associate dean of the Yale University School of Management, told Bloomberg. “Mulally has a great deal to bring to Google. He’s an engineer’s engineer who has a great feel for consumer product innovation.

One person that was close to the matter of Mulally being added to Google’s board claims that discussions had been going on for months. Another source claims that Larry Page, CEO of the tech giant, started talking to Mulally after reading his book American Icon. This book focuses on how the former Ford CEO turned the company around, reports WSJ.
