1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Fetches $34M at Auction

The vehicle was owned by Olympic gold medalist Henri Oreiller


A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTo has been sold for more than $34 million.

The car — known as 3851 GT — went for $34.65 million on Thursday at an auction in California during Monterey Car Week. The total price for the 1962 Ferrari was $38 million which includes 10% buyer fees.

Experts believed the vehicle could fetch twice as much. Another GTO sold for $52 million in a private transaction.

The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO was once owned by racing driver and Olympic gold medalist Henri Oreiller who suffered a fatal accident driving the vehicle in 1962.

Only 39 Ferrari GTos were produced.
