McDonald’s Tests 60-Second Drive-Thru Guarantee

The program is only in effect five hours a week

McDonald’s (MCD) is testing a 60-second drive-thru guarantee.

McDonald'sThe burger chain is looking to attract customers by promising them they’ll get their food in 60 seconds or less. The test is only being performed in Florida and there is a catch.

Customers will only be able to be part of the test if they go to McDonald’s on a weekday between the hours of noon and 1 p.m. The restaurant will give customers an hourglass-shaped sand timer after they finish paying and the chain promises to have their food ready within a minute.

McDonald’s had an average service time of three minutes and 15 seconds, according to QSR Magazine. This figure is the slowest in the history of the magazine’s 15 years monitoring drive-thru service times at fast food restaurants.

MCD stock is up about 0.1% Wednesday afternoon.
