The Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ is closing its doors by September 10.
The casino said that its 3,187 employees will lose their jobs once it closes unless it’s bought. The move came following years of losses that the resort was unable to overturn.
The Revel Casino Hotel canceled a bankruptcy auction for the resort that had been scheduled for Thursday after failing to find any qualified offers. The casino is still hoping to find a buyer ASAP in order to stay afloat.
“There is no guarantee, however, that Revel will be able to complete such a sale, and Revel is considering all alternatives,” the company said in the letter.
The casino was the fourth-highest casino employer in Atlantic City at the time.
