TSLA News: Tesla Now Offers Infinite Mile Warranty

Warranty extends to previously sold Model S cars

Tesla Motors (TSLA) is now offering an infinite mile drive unit warranty on the Model S.

tesla-tsla-infinite-mile-warrantyThe infinite mile warranty may be a new addition, but it will still affect all Model S cars that Tesla has released. This includes ones that were sold before the warranty was established. The warranty also doesn’t specify a number of owners before it becomes invalid, reports AutoExpress.

Tesla already offers an infinite mile warranty on its battery packs. The idea of infinite mile warranties is part of company CEO Elon Musk’s faith in electric vehicles. Musk said that he recognizes that the warranties will have a negative effect on earnings in the short term, but that it’s the right thing for the company to do in the long term, AutoExpress notes.

While the infinite mile warranties for the Tesla Model S may seem like an unlimited warranty, it isn’t. The battery pack and drive unit warranties on the Model S ends after 8 years.
