Ebola Outbreak in Atlanta? Nope, Yahoo’s Twitter Was Hacked

The fake post was Retweeted by hundreds


Yahoo (YHOO) News’ Twitter (TWTR) was hacked and a fake post was made in the account’s name.

The Yahoo News post stated that 145 people were infected by the virus. The post also claimed that the infection spread from doctors who carried the sickness back with them from Africa, reports USA Today.

Yahoo News regained control of its Twitter account and posted a Tweet alerting users of the fake post. The Tweets claimed that the Ebola post was made by an unauthorized user and that Twitter followers should disregard it, USA Today notes.

The fake Ebola Tweet made by Yahoo News was deleted about 20 minutes after it was made. However, the post had already been Retweeted by hundreds of users.
