The acquisition of Mitro Labs by Twitter was announced via the startup’s blog. The startup’s team will be moving to the social media website’s New York location and will be working on geo-location related projects. Financial details of the acquisition weren’t revealed.
According to the blog post, Mitro Labs’ password manager will be going open source and will be supported by its community. The shift to becoming a community-run product will be assisted by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The password manager created by Mitro allows users to manage passwords for both individuals and groups.
Earlier this week, Twitter purchased another startup. This startup was Madbits, which specializes on image searches and other image features.
