The Takata recall of airbags has been expanded to include passenger airbags.
Honda (HMC) said that 1.39 million Accord and Civics will are part of the Takata recall for passenger airbags. This recall includes Accords from 2003 to 2007 and Civics from 2001 to 2005 that were sold in the United States, reports Reuters.
The Honda vehicles included in the new Takata recall have already been recalled before for their driver airbags. The problem with these airbags is that they can open too strongly and send shrapnel towards drivers and passengers, Reuters notes.
Honda said that it will send letters to owners of affected vehicles alerting them of the recall. The company has also been keeping updated information regarding the Takata recall on its website.
