Amazon (AMZN) has started pulling a number of hoverboards from its website due to fire concerns.
The removal of several hoverboards from Amazon comes after reports of fire from the devices. These fires have been caused by faulty batteries in some cheaper hoverboards. The online retailer still offers hoverboards from Razor and Jetson, reports The Verge.
According to a Swagway, a hoverboard maker, Amazon is requiring hoverboard companies to provide proof that the devices they offer are safe. Many airlines will no longer carry hoverboards due to fire concerns Overstock.com (OSTK) also announced it will stop selling the devices, The Verge notes.
Several customers that ordered their hoverboards from Amazon have been sent warnings from the company over the possibility of a fire breaking out due to the batteries, reports USA Today.
