Pantone has announced the Color of the Year for 2016, and it’s a bit of a surprise.
Rather than announce a single Color of the Year for 2016, Pantone has announced two colors. These colors are Rose Quartz and Serenity. Rose Quartz is a “a warmer embracing rose tone” and Serenity is a “cooler tranquil blue.”
Pantone said that it selected Rose Quartz and Serenity as the Color of the Year for 2016 due to a blur of colors in fashion that’s the part of gender equality. This is the first time that the company has ever selected two colors to be the Color of the Year.
Pantone recommended that the Color of the year would go well with “mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink.” It also suggested adding in silver and bright, hot colors to the mix.
The Pantone color of the year for 2015 was a “naturally robust” red named Marsala.
