Walmart has announced that it will no longer have gas stations in its parking lots run by outside sources. It also said that it’s making a push to put as many gas stations in at new store locations as possible, reports Nasdaq.
Walmart has previously allowed Murphy USA (MUSA) to open new gas stations in its parking lots, but this is no longer the case. Murphy has roughly 1,300 gas stations in the US and about 1,000 of them are near, or connected to, locations owned by the retail chain, Nasdaq notes.
Walmart is planning to open up 300 new stores in 2016 and it’s possible that a majority of them will have the chain’s own gas stations in their parking lots, reports USA Today.
