Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) has landed a deal with the NFL.
The social media site has signed a deal with the football league to broadcast 10 Thursday night regular-season games free of charge over the network.
The move marks a new feature for Twitter as it looks to enter the streaming and sports platforms. By selling the streaming rights to its games separately, the NFL may make more money than before.
Twitter will show the networks’ ads during the stream, and only sell ads during the spots that are usually acquired by local affiliates.
Facebook may also start streaming NFL games on its website next season.
TWTR stock is up 0.2% Tuesday.
