The DOJ is concerned about Aetna’s efforts to acquire Humana. This deal would bring two of the largest Medicare Advantage providers together and could cause competition issues. The two companies will meet with the DOJ today.
News that the DOJ has concerns about Aetna’s acquisition of Humana comes from an unnamed source that is said to be close to the matter. Aetna has already began divesting assets to help calm antitrust claims and Leerink Partners analyst Ana Gupte believes the deal will move forward, reports Insurance Journal.
AET and HUM shares were both down on Friday morning after news of the concerns arose. However, they both recovered and are now slightly up from Thursday’s close.
