A Clown Lives Matter rally is going to take place on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The Clown Lives Matter rally is being organized by Nikki Sinn. Sinn has been dressing as a clown for a couple of years now, but isn’t a professional. She said the event started as a small effort with a few of her clown friends, but that it quickly started to grow via social media websites.
According to Sinn, she is holding the Clown Lives Matter rally to help people overcome their fears. She was inspired to do so due to the recent outbreak of “creepy clowns” that have been showing up across the United States. The rally will start near 213 N. Fourth Ave. in Tucson, Arizona.
“A lot of people are going against clowns,” Sinn told Time. “I don’t like that people are thinking that every single person that has clown makeup on is trying to hurt them or their children.”
The Clown Lives Matter rally is catching flak from members of the Black Lives Matter movement. They claim that it is “insensitive” of the movement’s struggle. Sinn said this was never her intention and pointed out that her father is black, reports AZCentral.
Law enforcement officials would also like to see the clowns scares come to an end. Connecticut state police said that the incidents “waste valuable resources and can lead to injuries to both first responders and members of the public.”
The creepy clown sightings have started increasing as Halloween approaches. Anyone who spots one is advised to contact their local authorities.
