Coronavirus 2020 is changing how people shop as grocery stores starting introducing senior hours for shoppers. The idea here is that these allotted times allow elderly individuals to go out and do their shopping while reducing the risk of encountering individuals infected with the coronavirus from China.

The following is a list of grocery stores with senior hours during the coronavirus 2020 outbreak.

  • Walmart (NYSE:WMT) — Senior citizens will be able to shop at Walmart an hour before it opens to the general public on Tuesdays.
  • Target (NYSE:TGT) — This retailer is allowing shopping for the elderly during its first hour of business on Wednesdays.
  • Costco (NASDAQ:COST) — Senior shopping lasts from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Dollar General (NYSE:DG) — The first hour of every day is available exclusively for elderly shopping.
  • Whole Foods — The Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) grocery chain will open its doors an hour early for elderly shoppers every day.
  • Walgreens (NASDAQ:WBA) — Senior shopping takes place an hour before opening on Tuesdays.
  • Safeway — This chain is going the extra mile by setting aside two hours in the mornings of Tuesday and Thursday for elderly shoppers.
  • BJ’s Wholesale Club (NYSE:BJ) — These stores are open an hour early every day for shoppers over the age of 60.

These are far from the only retailers that are offering senior shopping hours during the coronavirus 2020 spread. However, they are most of the major ones. USA Today has a list including other retailers that are offering special hours for elderly shoppers.

It’s also worth mentioning that local shops may adjust hours for the elderly in light of the virus. Visiting smaller shops may be a good idea to avoid crowds at the major locations.
