10 Hottest Stocks for Options Traders

Options volume was down in March

According to a press release from the Options Clearing Commission, exchange-traded equity options volume in March declined 19% from March 2012, and overall options contracts declined by 8%. However, it seems that they’re still gravitating toward the same equity option names, though at a lower volume.

Both individual investors and market makers favored old standbys in options trading volume on the CBOE yesterday:

Individual Investors

  • 24,697 Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) call contracts
  • 23,677 Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) call contracts
  • 17,011 BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) call contracts
  • 8,002 Ford (NYSE:F) call contracts
  • 6,762 Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) call contracts

Market Makers

  • 25,227 Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) call contracts
  • 17,586 Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) call contracts
  • 14,265 BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) call contracts
  • 7,204 Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) call contracts
  • 6,932 Ford (NYSE:F) call contracts

So all in all, the volume is down, but the names are the same. Has that  held true for your options trading as well?
