NJ Residents Can Vote in Presidential Election Via Fax or E-Mail

[1]With many election officials worried about Superstorm Sandy’s possible effects on the election[2] tomorrow, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie decided to take action.

Christie announced on Saturday that New Jersey voters displaced by Sandy will have the option to vote by e-mail or fax[3]. Registered voters will have to send a ballot application by e-mail or fax to their local county clerk, who will then e-mail or fax back an appropriate ballot. Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election day.

According to New Jersey’s Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, the goal is to alleviate pressure on polling places tomorrow. In addition, New Jersey will be using military trucks in place of some damaged polling sites.

Electronic voting, which is already an option to New Jersey voters who are overseas or serving in the military, will also be opened up to emergency workers as well.
