NJ’s Chris Christie Re-Elected Governor by a Landslide

NewLetters[1]Chris Christie was re-elected[2] as the Governor of New Jersey on Tuesday by a landslide.

Christie, who may also run for President in 2016, won at least 50% of the peoples’ votes. When 88% of the ballots were counted, Christie had 60% and his rival, Democrat Barbara Buono, had 39% of the votes. Buono decided to concede the race 40 minutes after the polls were closed. Buono had a hard race because due to the fact that she wasn’t backed by Democratic leaders. Christie was helped with the race due to his high approval ratings for how he handled Sandy last year. New Jersey governors can only serve two terms and if Christie runs for President in 2016 he may have to leave his position before his term as governor is finished, reports The New York Daily News.

“I will not let anyone, anything, any political party, any governmental entity or any force get in the way of the completion of my mission,” Christie, while referring to plan to rebuild after Sandy, told ABC News[3]. “I sought a second term to get things done, now watch me do it.”
