SBUX: Starbucks to Roll-Out Wireless Charging Stations Nationwide

Starbucks (SBUX[1]) is putting wireless charging stations[2] in stores across the country.
[3]The Starbucks wireless charging stations will be compatible with smartphones and will start being implemented immediately. The first locations to get the wireless charging stations will be San Francisco and New York. More charging stations will be added to stores in the following months, reports ABC News.
In total, Starbucks will be installing over 100,000 [4]of the wireless charging stations in 7,500 Starbucks locations.
The wireless charging stations will be installed into countertops and tables at Starbucks locations and will be provided by Procter & Gamble’s (PG[5]) Duracell Powermat. The technology works by letting smartphone owners sit their devices on top of the wireless charging stations to get a charge. Some phones may need special cases or backs before they can take advantage of the wireless charging stations, ABC New notes.
Starbucks first tested the wireless charging stations in Silicon Valley last year[6]. The coffee chain added these charging stations to 10 different locations in August.
