Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (NTDOY) has denied rumors that it will stop making the Wii U by the end of the year.
Nintendo made this announcement to refute a claim made by Nikkei, a Japanese business publication. It said that it plans to continue producing the Wii U through its next fiscal period and further into the future.
This falls in line with previous statements made by Nintendo to Time. The magazine mentions that president Tatsumi Kimishima said four months ago that the company would continue to support the Wii U and release software for it.
Forbes notes that Nikkei has a solid track record when it comes to rumors concerning Nintendo. It also pointed out that there’s enough loose wording in the company’s statement that could allow it to stop producing the Wii U if it chooses to.
