‘Awkward’ … Mark Zuckerberg’s Sister Now Works for Google

Monday’s news that social media marketing blog Wildfire is merging with Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) could spark a some good-old-fashioned sibling rivalry in one of Silicon Valley’s famous tech families.

As a result of the merger, Arielle Zuckerberg, the little sister of Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg, is one of Google’s newest employees. Arielle is currently employed as a junior product manager at Wildfire, but how the merger will translate for all of Wildfire’s nearly 400 employees is unknown.

The news that Arielle is joining Google spread like … well, wildfire … after Randi, the oldest Zuckerberg sister, tweeted the following: “Congrats Wildfire! There are officially now more Zuckerberg family members working for Google than Facebook! #awkward ;).”

It was easy to figure out that Randi was tweeting about her younger sis, but many throughout the Twittersphere were wondering which Zuckerberg was the “more” to which Randi was referring.

According to Business Insider, Randi was tweeting about her brother-in-law Harry Schmidt who is a product strategist at Wildfire. Schmidt is married to another Zuckerberg sister, Donna.

Arielle, although beaten to the punch by her older sister, shared the news yesterday with her 10,000+ Facebook subscribers.

“I’m in Israel on Birthright and I just found out that I’m now a Google employee. Not gonna lie… This feels pretty awkward, but I also feel very proud to be a part of the Wildfire team on this exciting day for (Wildfire co-founders) Alain (Chuard) and Victoria (Ransom),” she wrote.

Schmidt was the first person to respond to the post with the following words of encouragement: “We’ll be awkward together, it’ll be totally awesome.”
