apple-rumors-ios-update-apple-aaplUpdate: Apple (AAPL) is planning to release iOS 8.0.2 within the next few days, AppleInsider notes. The iOS update will include a patch that will fix issues that were making some of iPhone unusable. The company will also release instructions that will tell users how to downgrade their devices from iOS 8.0.1 to iOS 8. The iOS 8.0.1 update was released to fix a bug that made the HealthKit not work. However, the update made it so that several iPhone 6 and 6 Plus owners were unable to make calls, send message or use Touch ID features on the devices.

Mini: Mac mini might be getting a new version in October, reports MacRumors. The Mac Mini line hasn’t been updated for awhile and rumors about a new device have been even more scarce. The last rumor concerning the Mac mini mentioned a mid 2014 release, but that didn’t come to pass. Now it’s rumored that a new entry in the line will be released in October. If rumors turn out to be true, this would put the device’s release near the launch of the next generation iPad and OS X Yosemite.

Drop: A new, extreme version of a drop test has been completed on the iPhone 6 Plus, BGR notes. One YouTube user has gone beyond the typical drop test for the iPhone 6 Plus and dropped it while skydiving. The device fell roughly 7,000 feet and landed in sand in a deserted area. The smartphone’s screen was completely shattered, but it was still able to be located with the Find My iPhone app. The device seemed to be working perfectly even with its shattered screen and the YouTube user even loads up one of his own videos on the phone.
