Wearable Technology: Intel Smart Bracelet ‘MICA’ Headed to Barneys

Intel (INTC) and Opening Ceremony are teaming up on a smart bracelet that will be available at select stores and Barneys New York locations.

intel-intel-smart-bracelet-mica-wearable-technology-intc-stockThe new smart bracelet is called “MICA”, which is short for “My Intelligent Communication Accessory.” MICA’s features haven’t been heavily detailed, but Intel did say that it will allow women to stay connected through text messages, meeting alerts and notifications, reports PC Magazine.

MICA will have two versions and both of them will include a curved sapphire touchscreen display. One version of the smart bracelet will have a black watersnake strap with freshwater pearls and lapis. The other will have a white watersnake strap with tiger’s eye gems and obsidian, PC Magazine notes.

“We wanted something that felt luxurious and modern that could fit into the lives of many different women,” Humberto Leon, co-founder of Opening Ceremony, told USA Today while talking about MICA.

INTC shares were up 1% as of Thursday afternoon.
