Google (GOOG) Glass has been banned from all movie theaters in the United States.

Google Glass was banned from U.S. movie theaters in an update to the Motion Picture Association of America and National Association of Theater Owners’ anti-piracy policies. The ban requires all wearable devices that can record to be shut off while in a theater, reports CBS News.

Employees at theaters will only enforce the policy if they believe a person is trying to pirate a movie. This means that it’s unlikely a person will face legal ramifications for forgetting to take off a wearable device. While the change in policy is designed for Google Glass, it could also apply to other wearable devices with recording capabilities, Engadget notes.

The change to anti-piracy policies comes after a man was accused of pirating a movie in Columbus, Ohio in January. He was questioned by the Department of Homeland Security, but the investigation found that the man didn’t do anything wrong, reports CBS News.
