The Google (GOOG) Translate app for Android and Apple’s (AAPL) iOS is being upgraded to include some new features.
The upgrades to the Google Translate app were announced by the company via its blog on Wednesday. The new upgrades to the app are designed to make it easier for those travelling in different countries to get around. The new features will start appearing on the apps in the next few days.
Here’s a few of the upgrades that were added to the Google Translate app.
- Users can now instantly translate signs and words using their smartphone’s camera.
- Instant translation can currently translate English to and from French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
- Google Translate can now translate spoken conversations faster than before with better understanding.
- The app can identify which language is being spoken and start translating for that language.
- This upgrade will also include other new features for iOS users that were already available for Android users.
