Reddit has launched a new website dedicated to news called “Upvoted.”

upvoted-redditUpvoted is likely part of the company’s effort to attract more advertisers and traffic. The website won’t be a part of Reddit, but there will be an Upvoted thread on the forum website that will include content from the news site, reports Wired.

Here are a few things to know about Reddit’s Upvoted, as collected from Wired.

  • The news website doesn’t allow users to comment on stories.
  • All content on the website will originate from Reddit and will include links back to the original posts.
  • The website will have its own editorial team that will interview Reddit users and handle content.
  • The website will have 10 to 20 stories a day at launch, but hopes to reach 40 a day.
  • The ability to comment on the website will likely be added at some point.

“This launch of upvoted.com is the next logical step in celebrating the Reddit community: a hub for original content to give Redditors credit, as well as go beyond the original story to learn more about the people and ideas that bubble up across this site of 202 million monthly users,” Alexis Ohanian said in a post on Upvoted.
