More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.8%, the Nasdaq increased 1.2% and the S&P 500 pushed 0.8% higher.
Some of the biggest gainers among energy stocks include:
- Tesoro Petroleum Corp (TSO): TSO stock is up 5.8% today and up 20.5% in the last month.
- Holly Energy Partners L.P. (HEP): HEP stock is up 3.8% today.
- Energen Corp (EGN): EGN stock is up 1.7% today.
- Genesis Energy L.P. (GEL): GEL stock is up 2.3% today.
- Magellan Midstream Partners L.P. (MMP): MMP stock is up 2.5% today.
- Pengrowth Energy Corp (PGH): PGH stock is up 1.0% today.
- Ypf Sociedad Anonima (YPF): YPF stock is up 1.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Plains All American Pipeline L.P. (PAA): PAA stock is up 1.8% today.
- Cnooc Limited (CEO): CEO stock is up 1.2% today.
- Ross Group Plc (RGP): RGP stock is up 1.3% today.

- Rosetta Resources Inc (ROSE): ROSE stock is down 7.6% today.
- Ep Energy Corp (EPE): EPE stock is down 6.9% today.
- Diamondback Energy Inc (FANG): FANG stock is down 3.7% today.
- Pdc Energy Inc (PDCE): PDCE stock is down 4.8% today.
- Halcon Resources (HK): HK stock is down 4.7% today.
- Matador Resources Company (MTDR): MTDR stock is down 5.2% today.
- Carrizo Oil & Gas (CRZO): CRZO stock is down 3.3% today.
- Bonanza Creek Energy Inc (BCEI): BCEI stock is down 4.0% today and down 21.2% in the last month.
- Ultra Petroleum (UPL): UPL stock is down 3.1% today.
- Gulfport Energy Corp (GPOR): GPOR stock is down 2.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
