New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman has sent DraftKings and FanDuel cease-and-desist letters.

new-york-draftkings-fanduelSchneiderman has stated that the daily gambling offered by DraftKings and FanDuel is illegal. He said that the two companies can no longer take wagers in the state, but hasn’t told them to stop all operations. The attorney general said that the fantasy sports sites can cause the same economic and social problems that gambling does, reports ABC News.

FanDuel is arguing against the New York attorney general’s claims and said that fantasy sports requires skill and not luck. Both companies left Nevada after it ruled that the daily wagers were sports gambling and required them to obtain licenses, ABC News notes.

DraftKings responded in a similar way as FanDuel did to the attorney general’s cease-and-desist letters. It claims that it’s all a game of skill and legal under New York law, reports CBS News.
