iPhone 7 Mod: There’s now a version of the iPhone 7 that has a 3.5mm headphone jack, reports MacRumors. Unfortunately, this version of the iPhone 7 only belongs to Scotty Allen. Allen went through several iPhone 7 devices and spare parts to create a version of the smartphone that features a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple removed the headphone jack from its smartphone with the iPhone 7. Allen’s creation shows that having a headphone jack on the iPhone 7 is possible, but there are still some issues. For example, he can’t charge the device while listening to music through the headphone jack.
PodCase: A new Kickstarter offers a solution to storing and charging AirPods on the go, 9to5Mac notes. The Kickstarter is for an iPhone 7 and 7 Plus case called PodCase. This will be a case with a built-in 2,500 mAh batery. This battery will be able to charge the smartphone, as well as the AirPods. This is possible due to a storage section for the wireless headphones at the top of the case. The Kickstarter is seeking $300,000 to reach its goal. Eric Migicovsky, creator of the Pebble smartwatch, is the man behind the Kickstarter.
iPhone 8 Preorders: A new rumor claims that iPhone 8 preorders will start on Sept. 15, reports AppleInsider. The rumor makes sense as Apple typically starts preorders for new smartphones the Friday after it announces them. The company has an upcoming event on Sept. 12, which is when it will likely reveal the iPhone 8. However, this rumor also claims that the iPhone 8 won’t show up for customers that preorder until October. This same rumor says that the iPhone 7s line will be available for purchase the week after the reveal.
