iPhone 8 Production: A new rumor claims that Apple will be reducing production of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus by 50%, reports Reuters. According to this report, the tech company is planning to cut production of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in November or December. This would have AAPL slowing production of the smartphones shortly after the release of its new iPhone X. The iPhone X is the major new smartphone from the company in 2017. Customers waiting for the iPhone X are likely hurting sales of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.
Mac mini: Apple CEO Tim Cook says that the Mac mini is here to stay, MacRumors notes. A statement from Cook claims that the Mac mini will continue to be “an important part of our product line going forward.” The statement from Cook also claims that now isn’t the right time for the tech company to release any details about its plans for the device. It’s possible that AAPL will be releasing an update for the Mac mini, but there’s no evidence to support this.
3D Touch Patent: Apple has been granted a new patent for haptic feedback, reports AppleInsider. The new patent that was awarded to the company by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is titled “Dynamically stabilized magnetic array.” The patent describes a system that allows a device to provide haptic feedback when a user pushes down on its cover glass. This sounds like a way for the company to move forward with its 3D Touch system. However, it is unknown if it will ever end up in one of APPL’s devices.
