National Taco Day 2017: Taco Bell Offers $5 Taco Gift Box

Taco Bell — owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM) — is celebrating National Taco Day 2017 in style.

National Taco DayThe unofficial food holiday will take place on Wednesday, October 4, marking a day in which the taco chain will go all out to try to bring consumers in to enjoy a handful of tacos.

For National Taco Day only, Taco Bell will offer a $5 box of tacos that includes “four classic Taco Bell tacos, including a crunchy taco, Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos tacos, Cool Ranch Doritos Locos tacos and a Fiery Doritos Locos tacos,” according to the restaurant’s website.

To honor National Taco Day, the chain will sell each taco in a set that is gift wrapped in special wrappers that have the name of the holiday attached to them, with a festive gift box inside.

Taco Bell has ramped up social media efforts and ads designed to promote National Taco Day, including the creation of animated characters El Cruncho and Chef Glen, a talking taco and chef respectively.

A talking cactus narrates the story of Glen, who wanted to make tacos for the entire world, but could never make enough no matter how hard he tried. Instead, he decided to make one giant taco to feed the entire world, but also struggled to do so.

Eventually, El Cruncho was birthed out of this giant taco to help Glen make tacos for everyone, giving out tacos to those who would ring a bell, a taco bell.

YUM stock grew a fraction of a percentage Monday.
