Firefox Hello offers cross-browser video chats

Mozilla Firefox 35 was launched Tuesday and it has a number of updates.

Among the browser’s most prominent features is Firefox Hello, a video chatting capability. The feature is a simple way to create a video conversation with a friend by clicking the ‘Start a conversation’ button.

Each Firefox Hello conversation has a unique URL and the option of renaming it. “This can all be done without the need for setting up an account or giving up any of your personal information,” said Mozilla.

Firefox 35 allows you to video-chat with users of other browsers including Chrome and Opera. The browser also lets you import contacts from your Google Hello address book.

Additionally, Firefox 35 has a new search user interface and a new, simple way to access Firefox Marketplace, via the Tools menu.
