Fidelity Cutting Fees on 8 Index Funds

Fidelity Investments this week announced cuts to fees and investment minimums on a number of its mutual funds.

For Fidelity’s 14 Spartan index funds, the Investor class investment minimum will be lowered from $10,000 to $2,500, while the Advantage class will be lowered from $100,000 to $10,000. Investor and Advantage are retail share classes available to retail investors and retirement plans. In total, 22 funds (viewable here) will see lower investment minimums.

Also, fees will be cut across eight different Spartan index funds. Here’s a look at those funds and the change in their fees (by class):

Advantage Shares

Spartan 500 Index Fund (MUTF:FUSVX): From 0.06% to 0.05%.
Spartan Total Market Index Fund (MUTF:FSTVX): From 0.07% to 0.06%
Spartan Emerging Markets Index Fund (MUTF:FPMAX): From 0.22% to 0.20%
Spartan Mid Cap Index Fund (MUTF:FSCKX): From 0.14% to 0.10%
Spartan Real Estate Index Fund (MUTF:FSRVX): From 0.13% to 0.10%
Spartan Small Cap Index Fund (MUTF:FSSVX): From 0.24% to 0.16%
Spartan U.S. Bond Index Fund (MUTF:FSITX): From 0.11% to 0.10%

Investor Shares

Spartan Global ex-U.S. Index Fund (MUTF:FSGUX): From 0.24% to 0.22%

Fidelity also said it would automatically convert qualifying Investor class shares into Advantage shares of the same fund in January 2013.
