Caesars Entertainment CZRCaesars Entertainment (CZR) is wanting to build a casino in New York’s Sullivan County.

Voters approved a plan on Tuesday that will add seven more casinos to New York. Caesars showed interest in the plan and donated $100,000 to NY Jobs Now, which supports adding the casinos. The first four casinos are to be built in upstate New York. According to GOP State Senator John Bonacic, who is the head of the Senate Committee on Racing, Wagering and Gaming, several companies that provide entertainment through casinos have expressed interest in building a casino in the state. Included in those that have show interest are Caesars, Boyd Gaming (BYD), Empire City Race Track, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, MGM Resorts International (MGM), Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority and Las Vegas Sands (LVS). An upstate casino is expected to begin construction in 2014, reports the New York Post.

“To promote tourism, you need somewhere for tourists to go,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo told The New York Daily News. “And that is what we are talking about with these resort destinations.”
