GM (GM) is stopping the sales of most Chevy Cruze mocdels, the company’s best-selling car model in the U.S.
A spokesman for the company said that GM is halting the sales of Chevrolet Cruzes with the 1.4-liter turbo engine. However, the automaker has not issued a recall on these vehicles or explained why the halt has been ordered.
At the end of February, GM had a 70-day inventory of Chevy Cruzes which amount to about 7,000 vehicles. Some of these vehicles have a larger engine and are not affected by the halt.
Chevy Cruzes have sold very well for the carmaker over the years with more than 2 million sold worldwide since 2009.
GM stock is up about 1% Friday.
