Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street so far on Friday, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.6%.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.7%, the Nasdaq climbed 1.0% and the S&P 500 pushed 0.7% higher.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is up 4.3% today.
- Southern Peru Copper Corp (SCCO): SCCO stock is up 3.6% today.
- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 3.0% today.
- Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is up 2.9% today.
- Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is up 3.0% today.
- Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is up 2.5% today.
- Kapstone Paper and Packaging Corp (KS): KS stock is up 2.9% today.
- Huntsman Corp (HUN): HUN stock is up 2.2% today.
- Leucadia National Corp (LUK): LUK stock is up 2.1% today.
- Owens-Illinois (OI): OI stock is up 1.9% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is down 7.7% to a new 52-week low of $26.01.
- First Majestic Silver (AG): AG stock is down 2.2% today.
- Ternium S.A. (TX): TX stock is down 2.1% today.
- Commercial Metals Company (CMC): CMC stock is down 2.0% today.
- New Gold Inc (NGD): NGD stock is down 1.6% today.
- Iamgold Corp (IAG): IAG stock is down 1.7% today.
- Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO): EGO stock is down 1.2%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Hecla Mining Company (HL): HL stock is down 1.3% today.
- Pan American Silver (PAAS): PAAS stock is down 0.8% today.
- Pohang Iron & Steel Co. (PKX): PKX stock is down 0.8% today.
