The Oakland A’s Josh Reddick has picked Wham!’s Careless Whisper as his new baseball walk up song.
Josh Reddick said he heard the song while sitting in the Oakland A’s clubhouse and saw it as a sign to use it as his baseball walk up song. He said somebody in the clubhouse was using Pandora (P) and the song came on at random, reports Rolling Stone.
The first night that Josh Reddick used Careless Whisper as his baseball walk up song he went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. The next game he used the song at he went 2-for-5 and scored a home run.
“It’s all the song,” Josh Reddick told The San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s not my talent. It’s all the song.”
Fans have also been receptive to the new baseball walk up song and slow dance in the bleachers when it plays, Rolling Stone notes.
