Customers should also keep an eye out for signs of how much an item has been marked down at Target. Doing this is as easy as looking at the upper right-hand corner of a clearance tag. Usually a number is in this corner that shows a percentage of how much an item has been reduced in price. The starting discount is usally 15% and it grows around every two weeks, Daily Finance notes.

Target also has an unofficial markdown schedule for when it reduces item prices in certain categories. Here is the retailer’s unofficial markdown schedule, as listed by The Krazy Coupon Lady.

  • Monday: Baby items, children’s clothing, electronics, office supplies, gift wrap and stationery.
  • Tuesday: Home decor, women’s clothing, and domestic items.
  • Wednesday: Food, health and beauty items, men’s clothing, toys, and garden items.
  • Thursday: Lingerie, housewares, sporting goods, shoes, and luggage.
  • Friday: Cosmetics, jewelry, hardware, automotive, and home improvement .
