Softbank (SFTBF), a Japanese company, has revealed a robot with emotions named Pepper.

Pepper is a joint effort between Softbank and Aldebaran Robotics. The robot was shown off on Thursday and sang I Want to Be Loved, reports the Associated Press.

“People describe others as being robots because they have no emotions, no heart,” Masayoshi Son, chief executive of Softbank, told BBC News. “For the first time in human history, we’re giving a robot a heart, emotions.”

  • It can learn how to react over time instead of being programmed.
  • Pepper stands 4 feet tall and weighs 62 pounds.
  • The robot will go on sale in Japan in February 2015.
