Facebook‘s (FB) new Mentions app has already come under scrutiny.
William Shatner wrote a review about the app on his Tumblr and he had plenty to complain about. His first complain was the fact that Mentions makes you follow a celebrity before you can access the app and Mentions recommended that Shatner follow former Star Trek colleague George Takei.
Throughout his review, William Shatner rambles on about the different features of Mentions and compares it to the Pages app. He eventually comes to the conclusion that he’s not quite sure why Facebook released the app in the first place.
“It seems to be ill conceived,” he writes. “I will probably use it to post to my Facebook when I’m on my phone but it doesn’t allow for mail or groups.”
Shatner added that he will probably use both his regular Facebook app and the Pages app.
FB stock is up about 2.5% Wednesday afternoon.
